Upstream – The Art Trail

Natalie Smith & Amy King’s ‘Kingdom Fungi’

The inaugural Upstream Art Trail took place in Central Park on March 5-8.

Despite an epic storm on the Saturday the trail was a huge success. It attracted hundreds of visitors and we received extremely positive feedback on the quality, diversity and accessibility of the artwork.

Upstream was envisioned as an event that would showcase the work of emerging artists, bring the community together, and encourage people to use and enjoy Central Park.

It was a delight to see people of all ages enjoying the art and the park over the course of the outdoor exhibition.

Although many of the visitors were local, a number of people were visiting the park for the first time and described it as one of Wellington’s hidden gems.

We couldn’t have done it without the work of the artists, the generous funding from our sponsors, or the tireless efforts of our fantastic team of volunteers. Thanks again!
